We’ve always said that we value your feedback and endeavour to act upon it and this update is no exception!
Those of you that have been with us from the beginning would know that our website has evolved many times over the past two years. We have tried new things, rewritten and deleted hundreds of elements, and needless to say, we are proud of it! After being awarded four accolades in recognition of style, functionality and pioneering ideas that make it stand out from other band websites; we are fast approaching 10000 visits and are even predicted in the Google search bar when you start typing. The evolution of our website is a direct result of constant feedback that we receive through it, and of course, the people that matter the most, our followers….. THIS MEANS YOU!
In recent months however, a new obstacle has been bothering us and we have finally managed to launch a solution. (We think!)
It appears that the days of sitting at your PC or Laptop for hours catching up on status updates and emails after a hard days graft is diminishing due to the ever growing popularity of smart phones. We couldn’t get our heads around the fact that we have a website packed full of information, and yet people were complaining that they had missed a gig, or are continuously asking when the next one is scheduled. Only after watching several people trying to navigate their way around our site with their Apple or Android devices, did we realize just how incompatible our site was with mobile internet technology! So many links, in such small text and accidentally navigating to pages when you are pinching & zooming was annoying to watch let alone perform!
So, there we have it, the website we were so proud of, in simple terms, was pants for mobile internet users! For this we apologise and now hope we have found a solution for these people to keep up to date.
After hours of research, our initial thoughts were to create an “app”, but as we are a mere local pub covers band with little over 300 followers, this wasn’t a very cost effective solution. We’re under no illusions that thousands of people wouldn’t have downloaded it from Appstore or the Android Market whether it was free or not! We’re not rock stars ya know! Another reason we decided against this was because our site is really only informational and doesn’t do anything. Short of creating a game where you can shoot us off stage with rotten vegetables, it wouldn’t have been interactive. Apps also modify settings in your phone, sometimes with horrible consequences and we didn’t want the responsibility of that either…… so….. What do we do in this situation?
Well, just for the followers who use their mobile internet more these days whilst their desktops collect dust, we have created a sister website designed specifically for viewing on smart phones!
We’ve stripped out all of the unnecessary stuff and designed and built a website containing just the basics, based on the statistics of page hits on the main site. Less is more as Andy keeps reminding the band and due to having basic functionality, we were able to increase the text and button sizes to enable touch screen users a more friendly experience. (We Hope)
It is however, in its “Beta” or “testing” stage and thus far has only been tested on HTC using Android. We would appreciate feedback from anyone using other operating systems such as Apple or Blackberry so that we may address any issues……
Hours of research and coding was spent on this project and we hope that you mobile net surfers will be happier knowing that all your Kneeslider updates can be accessed in the palm of your hand!
Quite simply (and even technophobes can do this), all you have to do is click on the link below, or visit www.kneeslider.net and click on the “Mobile Beta” button, or type the following into your web browser: http://www.mobile.kneeslider.net.
Once loaded, simply add to your “favourites” or “bookmarks” and Bobs your aunty if he’s a transvestite!
Now you’ll never miss a status update or gig update so we could well be interacting soon! (We’ve got something to put in you!)
This project does not replace the main Kneeslider website as it is by far the better one to browse on a proper computer!
Once again, thanks for your continued support and we hope to see you soon!
All the best,
Da Boyz’
PS – Remember that incentive we ran whereas if you get us a gig, we’ll each buy you a drink? Well it’s still running so Bookmark the new site on your Smartphone and show all the landlords!
